Second Experiment

2008 SEMA Toyota Yaris TailbackThe second experiment in the E-Squared book was to examine what we’re aware of and what we draw to us.  In the first 24 hours, I was too look for a certain color car.  I looked for green cars and found a few.  I did notice that I was actively looking and surprised with delight when I recognized the green cars.  I noted around 7 and probably could have found more if I weren’t distracted, but was delighted with the ones I noticed.  I felt the joy of a child finding Easter eggs.

Tomorrow I need to find purple feathers or butterflies.  I’ll let you know how that goes.

Experiment updates are in the comments.

About metaminder

A few years ago, I graduated with a Masters degree in Spiritual Nurture from an accredited graduate school. However, I found myself disagreeing with much of the traditional Christian doctrine that I had learned. So I packed up my faith and put it away to examine another day. Recently, I've found myself reconnecting to spirit and discovering alternative practices that guide my life in a positive direction and help me function more fully. I'd like to share my journey of growth and renewal with you as I explore these practices in hopes that you may find them helpful as well. Let me add that I have tried and was even trained in traditional western psychotherapy. While it has it's benefits, it was not enough for me. I found that as a client, talking about the same issues week after week kept me stuck in those issues. When I was being trained, I longed to offer something more to a client than merely handing them the preverbial tissue every so often. I longed to offer touch or teach them coping skills. It hasn't been until the last couple of years where I have learned new techniques such as Reiki, hypnosis, EFT and others. These are techniques that have been of help to me. This is my journey with alternative methods of self-nurture and growth. Your mileage may vary. I invite you to take responsibility for your own well being as you read this blog.

Well, the second day of finding purple feathers and butterflies didn’t go so well. After I went through the day and didn’t find any, I just took it upon myself to do a search on purple feathers and found a bunch. Alas, that’s cheating. My bad. :/ Doesn’t count. I realize what went wrong. I went through the day shopping and saying things like, “Not seeing any purple feathers. No, not here. Where are they? I can’t find any purple feathers. There are just no purple feathers to be found.” etc etc. And you wonder why I couldn’t find any. :/ I’ll have to repeat this part of the experiment again next time I go out. I’ll let you know.

Ok. Better late than never. While doing research on the internet, I first found butterflies, can’t remember now. Second, while doing spiritual research, I found a blue feather. No, I didn’t search the term feathers or butterflies and well, a blue feather will have to do for now.

I’d almost forgotten about the experiment and was happy I came across them. I wonder if this teaches that things come up when you least expect them as opposed to when you are actively searching and/or “forcing” it.

I finally found a REAL purple feather – well… purple and greenish. It was in my room the whole time. I was cleaning my room and found it behind my dresser mirror. It was near me the whole time and I didn’t see it. Me thinks there is a lesson in there somewhere.
